Case study : Securing customer access for healthcare professionals

Context and challenge:

A healthcare professional wishes to strengthen the security of the personal space provided to their clients online.

A healthcare professional offers their clients an online portal. These personal spaces allow users to manage their records, communicate with their advisors, or access health resources.

The group, committed to protecting its customers' personal data, wishes to offer a reassuring and fluid user journey and experience by strengthening security when users log in to their personal area.

To achieve this, our client wanted a fast, reliable, and secure solution to notify their customers via email after each authentication with the following constraints:

  • The emails sent were to be tracked and encrypted.
  • Emails were to be delivered to the inbox in under a minute.
  • The solution had to allow for the customization of messages
  • The process was to be automated to ensure a smooth customer experience
  • An administration console was to allow traffic monitoring, account configuration, and action in case of delivery errors.
  • The integration was supposed to be simple and quick, adapted to the client portal Framework.
  • The solution needed to be scalable and allow for new uses (OTP) if necessary.

Solution:

To support its client in achieving its objectives, efidem recommended its Communication Platform as a Service (CPaaS) Snapshoot.

This solution offers powerful communication features, designed to facilitate the work of all stakeholders: developers, administrators, and end-users.

Snapshoot meets the client's expressed needs and has a flexible, fast-to-integrate, multi-channel RESTful API that supports:

  • A monitoring and administration console
  • User management
  • High-quality transactional routes
  • Secure Email Sending (TLS 3.1, DKIM, SPF)
  • A recipe and production environment

Implementation

For the completion of the project and the integration of the API, our client's technical teams were able to rely on:

  • Examples of code snippets available for various programming languages that allow you to integrate queries in just a few minutes
  • Test sending emails from a dedicated and secure staging environment.

Through this integration phase, our client's technical teams were able to configure and set up the solution to meet their needs:

Email Personalization:

Using the email customization features offered by the Efidem RESTful API, our client has created login confirmation email templates. Adapted for each client, these emails contain the patient's name, the date and time of login, and a brief reminder of best practices for data security.

Automation

Thanks to API integration, every time a patient logs into their client area, our client's system automatically triggers the sending of the confirmation email via Efidem. Thus, the process is automated and confirmations are sent in real time via a priority transactional route with an excellent reputation.

Delivery Tracking:

Efidem also offers an email delivery tracking console: Snapshoot. From this console, our client can ensure the success of email deliveries and act quickly in case of delivery errors. 

Results:

Thanks to the successful integration of Snapshoot's CPaaS solution, this healthcare leader has been able to implement an automated and secure process for sending login confirmations via email to its members. Patients feel reassured by the security of their data and receive tangible proof of their logins.
